Biodiversity Preservation has pioneered an ecoliteracy program targeting students in the Grand Port region. A series of practical workshops are being delivered to build youth capacity based on their active participation for development of an ecoliteracy toolkit to address environmental challenges. The idea is to integrate ecoliteracy as a social and emotional process that cultivates the knowledge for a better understanding of how the natural world supports our existence while developing empathy and embracing sustainability as a collective action for future generations.
As part of our ecoliteracy program, Biodiversity Preservation has developed an e-library for youth to nurture their knowledge on environmental challenges for climate actions and solutions.
It all started in 2013 with a commitment to drive a paradigm in our way of consuming and producing under an umbrella vision “Grow your own health”. Inspired from Slow Food International principles, Biodiversity Preservation is slowly enfolding a seed to table experience where learning takes place in the heart of a garden connecting youth to nature, environment and food in a convivial ambiance. Over the years, a series of activities to grow youth as changemakers have been delivered cultivating meaningful engagement with our own health, health of our community and health of our planet.
